It took me about 5 minutes to figure out what was written behind me.
Fact: Husband wanted me to name this post 'urban jungle', I don't know why, maybe he thought he was being cool (hehe, love you!)
Fact : I am wearing three animals! Elephant, Sparrow ring and there's a Dolphin on my cuff.
Fact: I've had these leg warmers for 6 or 7 years and this is the first time I've worn them.

The best fact: I am working on my "My Closet" series. In case you missed it, I'm giving you guys a look into my room, how I organize everything from jewellery to shoes and a list of my current "closet wants" and "closet needs".

That means, I have to go put that embarrassing pile of laundry away.

[Hint: If you put it all on your bed, you have to put it away or you can't sleep on the bed! Unfortunately...I have a tendency to pass out on the couch beforehand.]

Believe it or not, I used to love the woods and the country.
I would play with my friends (sometimes imaginary) or by myself and build 'forts' and 'houses' with trees and rocks.
I feel really country and somehow woodsy? I guess cause we used to say our cottage was 'up in the woods' or 'up in the country'.

This dress used to be my favorite thing belonged to my nana. (It got too small, so she gave it to me and I made it into this skirt)
It was always at the cottage and I would put it on with her cowboy boots (similar to mine) and a cowboy hat, then "play" guitar on the patio.
Nan has a picture, I must scan it in to show you guys. It was pretty awesome.

Although now I look at it, its kind of a tribal print more than anything.
But hey, I'll never mess with memories and their correlations!

Another school outfit down! I really love this top but hates how it shows where my jeans line is at my waist. Oh well, guess you can't win them all!

Sarah and I (you may know her as 'Spardikins' in every comment section) went for a little girl's time out! As per usual, we did a little window shopping, though I did pick up a new pair of flats cause I wore a hole in my black ones! Had some drinks and nachos at Boston Pizza
(I know what you're thinking..yes I went to BP again..)

And of course, I bought a few more necklaces, a top and a BOLD multicolored print dress.
Its so loud.
Its so me.
Can't wait to show you guys!

By the end of the night we may or may not have felt so overtired that the whole night seemed like a dream.
I hope this post makes sense in the morning!

When I think 'casual Friday' at work, I don't want to picture people in their gym clothes and white sneakers with Velcro. They say 'comfort of your HOME' for a reason.
Might sound a bit harsh here, but come on guys agree with me!
I feel like I'm totally pulling off casual work wear perfectly today.

It always seems to rain on my work days .. might have to start a series called "Trouser Tuesdays' if that keeps up..

These pics were taken in front of my nanas house. The family
(I HATE when people say 'fam jam' whats up with that?!)
all went there to have pizza and cake to celebrate my little bros 7th.. I mean 15th birthday.
He still seems so far away from teenage years to me!

These past 2 weeks have been so filled with family (which is a blessing) but also filled with a lot of celebratory cake and pizza (another blessing, but my body says otherwise)

Hey guys! Hope your Monday was good. Mine? Well, you can look at the quality and location to tell that. Everything seemed to be going great until I hit 4pm, then it seemed to be madness. Hence the crappy 'by the house' pictures as I call them.
But I'll have it known, we're renting.
I have BIG expectations for my first home...expectations that will abruptly take a nose dive when I hit reality of the housing (I digress, but let's save that house post for the future!)

On a good note, this is my first 'remixed' outfit consisting of this skirt and this top.
I'm pretty pleased at how I took those items and made this outfit totally different!

I did however, had to take my tights off halfway through school because they were warm and itching me...and it looked like I was scratching my bum (it was my thigh okay!?)
I decided to show what the outfit looks like with and without them :)

big & small

Tank (Underneath) - Forever 21
Lace Tank - Urban Planet
Skirt - (Gifted & Self Altered)
Belt - Eclipse
Wedges - Payless
Sunglasses - Forever 21
Earrings - Ardene

I originally had another outfit in mind for today but somehow ended up in this one.
The other skirt I had was another one that was given to me, but I altered to my size. It was WAY too big..which was good to see!
( I made it a few months ago, so it was nice to know the gym is paying off)
THEN I put this one on that I also altered and it was WAY too small to be on my hips.
Thus, I having to hike it up so high I had to wear spandex shorts underneath.
To say the least, by body couldn't decide if it was having a "skinny" or "fat day"
(& I'd much rather use the term "bloat day" than fat.)

Mama once told me "if you have to wear shorts underneath, it's too short." I agree BUT if you can't see the shorts and pull off looking cute in a too short skirt, then I say go ahead.

Besides, with heels, there's nothing wrong with a little leg!

Today was a family filled day. Everyone got together to celebrate my nana and papa's 60th wedding anniversary. I can't even imagine! 60 years is a LONG time to be with someone. I'm so glad they made it this far. I don't know what I'd do without them.

Everyone went to a local chinese buffet then back to their house for cake, drinks and songs.
It's so good to be around the people that mean most to you.

I've really appreciated my family more than ever this year. Better late then never I say.

[Isn't my nana simply stunning! And of course papa is a stud]

Here's to many more years of happiness!

saying farewell

Today, I had to say farewell to one of my best friends. I've never been apart from her for more than 2 weeks, so it really won't hit me until after 3. She's moving cross-country to Alberta. Were both hoping to have a Christmas visit, but we'll see when the time comes.

Who is it?

My lovely mama.

She hated this picture, but I thought it was so pretty and really showed her natural beauty.

But she's more than just a pretty face. My mom is the ultimate superwoman.
Her strength and courage is outstanding. Any obstacle that comes her way, she tackles with grace and ease. I've looked up to her my whole life...though we've butted heads on more occasions than I'd like to admit.
She's encouraged me through my toughest times, and continues to do so. When I feel like I'm at my worst, she always tries to bring out the best.

She's put her life on hold so many times for me, and I'm so happy the opportunity for her to chase after her goals and better her life has finally arrived. But this time I'll be the one encouraging. I'm really going to miss not having the option to pop by out of the blue or go for more girls nights. I know however, the times we are together from here on out will be cherished more than ever.

Wednesday, we went to Boston Pizza for one last girl's dinner. We had some potato skins, then I dug into my usual, Tropical Chicken Pizza (no pineapple) and she had the Tuscan.
Of course, a few drinks were in order.
A Strawberry Daiquiri for me & Long Island Ice Tea for her :)

Thursday was hectic to say the least, but we managed to make a homemade turkey dinner "with all the fixins" as they'd say here.
Carrot, turnip, potato, cabbage, dressing, gravy & strawberry shortcake for dessert!

Then this morning we had a mini 'goodbye' shoot for the blog.

[Mom thought these were totally me when I bought them, so I wanted her to see them in an outfit before she went. They're nicknamed my "Fierce" boots. I'll remix them very soon so you'll get a better look at them :)]

Got a few 'blog poses' from mama too!

I think I look just like her, don't you? She sees it sometimes, and I guess it's moreso with my hair down and no glasses. But the height for sure!

See you in a few months.
I miss you already and I love you, always.

I just realized that this dress is hybrid of a bunch different animal prints. I always thought it was a purple giraffe print.
More like a purple giraffe/leopard/zebra/some other animal print.

My nan and a few other people thought this was a skirt, which was my goal. SUCCESS! I scored this little number for 20$ a few years ago, marked down from 89! Honestly, I've only worn this once before...to Costco. John said it was 'too dressy' and I never looked back.
Until today. I'm so glad I didn't get rid of this :)

And I've been on a roll (besides Tuesday) for taking pictures away from my house.
Tomorrow takes the cake, so be prepared ;)

My momma took these photos before we went out for supper at Boston Pizza.
[I still don't believe she's moving on Friday. And yeah, expect a full mommy & me post.]

Everyone seemed to like this combination of stripes and pink today. It was a very unlikely pair for me. I was having a hard time deciding what to wear and this just popped into my head. Maybe my mind and closet are becoming one...

I wanted to dress it down for school, so boots and jean jacket it is! And did you check out my recent love list? Yeah, denim seems to be my go-to jacket lately. I'll try not to put it on overload!

I'm literally passing out here from exhaustion, so until tomorrow!
:) love you guys
